This GoFundMe has been created to support Monica and Ryan Aitken and their three children. May the proceeds from this fundraiser help this family find some financial relief during this immensely difficult time.
Background: On December 29th 2017, Ryan and Monica Aitken welcomed their 3rd child into this world, a beautiful and healthy baby boy named Ace. One week after his birth, the unfathomable occurred when Monica unexpectedly and tragically suffered a massive stroke that nearly immediately ended her life. She was hospitalized, underwent brain surgery, but unfortunately the stroke was catastrophic and has left her in a coma initially with little brain activity or hope for recovery. She remains in a coma, but has since been transferred out of the hospital and is in a long term care facility on intermittent breathing support. Since the initial stroke, Monica has shown some small but promising signs of recovery of brain function including breathing off ventilator support for up to 8 hrs at a time, opening her eyes, squeezing objects when placed in her hand, and with more brain activity on EEG monitoring.
Ryan and family are heartbroken and are doing their best to cope and adjust as well as they can. They continue to fight for Monica and not give up hope for her recovery.
