UPDATE:   Rodney's metastasized  has cancer, and no longer curable. Sadly! My heart is broken...

Rodney is 22, he was born in Fauquier County and grew up and still lives in Rappahannock County, Va. He graduated from Rappahannock High School. After high school Rodney started for a local plumbing and heating company, who helped him get into school to learn the trade. Around mid 2019, Rodney started having back pain that just continued to get worse. Multiple trips to the Dr. and still no answers as to why his back hurt. The Dr. finally offered steroid shots for relief, which he passed on. He didn't want to have treatment for something , when they didn't even know what they were treating. During this entire time he was ?"eating" OTC pain meds for some relief. Rodney started passing large amounts of blood in his stool, multiple times in the day, initially he assumed it was from the amount of Aleve he was taking daily.  Rodney had just turned 21 in Dec 2019, a milestone all kids look forward too. He eventually had a doctor order to have a colonoscopy. That is when they found a large tumor, that ended up being Stage 3 Colorectal Cancer. Rodney was quickly set up with a great team of cancer specialists. He had a port placed in his neck that he used to administer his chemo treatments 3 consecutive days for 12+ wks, next was radiation for another 6+ weeks, Tumor has shrunk and surgery was done in January of this year. Rodney was extremely excited that he had that 3month break so he could go deer hunting. He always says , "If I could sit in the woods all day everyday doing nothing more than watching a squirrel, I would be happy". Come Jan. 2021. Rodney had the tumor removed, had to have a colostomy bag for 12wks until the colon was fully healed. He had to have a tube surgically placed for a infection that was to much for your typical oral antibiotics. A few months later he has his reversal surgery, a tissue sample was sent in for testing as a precautionary measure. Post surgery has been really tough, but he didn't care so much because he was at the finish line, and he couldn't have been any happier. He was scheduled for 2 month check ups. He ended up seeing his doctor for an issue unrelated and the tissue test results had just came in. He still has cancer, that is now in his lung as well. The doctors took the weekend to come up with some sort of treatment plan, knowing a much stronger more aggressive chemo treatment was going to be the start.  He was absolutely dreading chemo, it makes him feel like he has the flu the entire time.

Rodney has been amazing the past year and half, so strong . We are all so proud of him. And a special shout out to His Dad, step-mom and Girlfriend now Fiance , for being the main backbone getting him through all of this. He is a fighter that is for sure, continued prayers.
