Our hearts are heavy as we share this: our amazing friend Rineke—an extraordinary woman with a heart bigger than most—has been diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer.

If you know Rineke, you know what kindness looks like in human form. She is the person who always shows up. As a brilliant scientist, devoted teacher, a mentor, and a great friend she has spent her life helping others learn, grow, and believe in themselves. As a neighbourhood volunteer, she gives her time to every school event and community cause. And above all, Rineke is a mother. Her world revolves around her teenage son, Jens, and she is fighting every day to stay strong for him.

But now, she needs our help.

Her treatment plan includes a chemotherapy drug that is not covered by insurance—and it comes with a heartbreaking cost of over $10,000. It's a drug that could change everything.
