For Rachel and Lily Salvitti
Donation protected
On March 14th, my brother-in-law Gianluca Salvitti developed a sudden illness with a rash on his leg and a fever. The doctor said that he had a bacterial infection of the skin called Cellulitis and gave him antibiotics and sent him home. That same night, in what appears to have been a cardiac arrest triggered by the skin infection, he died.
My sister, his wife Rachel, is heartbroken as is their beautiful 10-year old daughter Lily, the absolute love of both of their lives. He is also survived by his beautiful mother Tanya , his sister Monica , his niece Astrid and his beloved nephew Jules.
Luca, who worked as an IT specialist for the Australian postal service, was the primary breadwinner for the family so in additional to the emotional hardship, Rachel and Lily face an uncertain financial road ahead.
Many of my community and those friends that are connected in some way to Rachel and Luca have asked what they can do to help. I have set up this page to give you the opportunity to make a small donation in lieu of flowers or food. Steve and I will do what we can going forward to provide financial support, but contributions from a broader group will certainly be meaningful to Rachel on many levels.
The world is experiencing a global criss right now and I know that so many people are suffering financially - please do not donate if you are facing your own challenges like so many at this time.
I am stuck in the US unable to be with my family at this terrible time and this effort feels like something I can do to help in this moment.
Thank you to the amazing community of those we love who have reached out. Our family is so touched by the outreach and please keep your families safe. Please be aware this was set up in US dollars for those giving from Australia.
