As all Ash and Pat's friends know, Ash has recently been diagnosed with oesophageal cancer. 

Pat has started to share her thoughts and feelings with her friends on FB about how this has affected them both from her perspective.   Many of the subjects she touches on are the taboo ones!  Her posts expose the day to day fears that have arisen so that others may understand and relate to the things that have come to light as their journey on Planet Cancer has progressed.

One of the major sources of concern is financial.  Both Pat and Ash are self employed and with Ash being told he will never be able to go back to work and a lot of Pat's time is now, naturally, caring for Ash; this has become another hump in the road.

So whilst they are constantly under the shadow of Planet Cancer, they also have to worry about the day to day financials of mortgage payments, feeding the animals, feeding themselves and general household bills.  As we all know, financial insecurity in a world dominated by money causes a lot of stress.  Not least because any benefits they are entitled to will take months to come through.

One of the things that has become clear is the fact that whilst they would both do anything for anybody, they hate asking for help themselves.

From one of Pat's recent posts a lot of friends are more than willing to help by giving what they can through GoFundMe - and as they won't ask for help in this way, some of their friends have done it for them!  Sorry (not sorry) Pat and Ash ;-)

So if you know them, if their circumstances have touched you in some way, then please feel free to give what you can to help two truly awesome human beings through the most difficult of times.

All funds raised will go direct to Pat and Ash.
