To those who know my family know 2020 has been rough .
We lost our sunshine girl Nina on March 26th after an unexpected passing . She left behind a beautiful son Nicolas Scott and a hole in my families heart forever . As that happened COVID hit with Vengeance everything closed and millions lost thier jobs overnight. my brother being one of them was out of work . Then due to him being a labor worker he was non essential Which forced him to put all the money he had left into his type of work to buy equipment where he would do side jobs for little pay to make ends meet. 7 days a week 12-14 hours a day . On august 9th I got a phone call from my little brother telling me he hurt his shoulder and I advised him to go to the ER due to the amount of pain he was in . One X-ray and 6 hour later he was sent home and was told to see an orthopedic surgeon for a second opinion. The morning of the 10th my brother was very sleepy and dizzy could barely get himself 5ft to the bathroom. so we figured his body had finally just was able to relax from the many months of no rest . By early morning august 11th he was unable to recognize his son didn’t remember the last 4-5 years of his life was unable to walk talk or open his eyes he was hallucinating and couldn’t be touched because every joint in his body hurt. We rushed him to the ER where within hours he had a full CT scan , MRI , xrays , blood taken to find he was VERY SICK! They discovered my brother had gone into full body septic shock severely anemic and uncontrollable high fevers,The main infection in his brain heart and lungs . By the 12th he had a blood transfusion platelet transfusion and was hooked up to 2 basic IVs and 2 antibiotic ivs sitting in the infectious disease ICU . As the antibiotics started to work On the 19th of august Myles woke up to extreme pain in his chest where they discovered he had an embolic stroke in his lung. From there they had trouble keeping his breathing calm and heart rate under 130-150 he was placed on oxygen with little relief. On the 21st they did an echocardiogram (in-depth ultrasound of the heart) where they discovered that the infection had burrowed a hole in the right valve in his heart and that there was fluid around his heart and lungs . They placed him on water pills to help pull the fluid around the heart and lungs but the fluid was infected and he took a turn for the worst high fevers hit and cold sweats major weight loss body aches they decided on the 24th that the Risk of symptoms were higher than they liked and decided to do a Thoracentesis (where they stick an epidural needle into the spaces between your ribs into the outter sac of your heart) he had a a chest tube for 3 days where he drained 6L of infection. After this was completed he then was moved up to the Cardiology icu where he was then able to see physical therapy and occupational therapy where they were able to assist Myles getting out of bed for the first time standing . He is now able to walk with his walker about 30ft he was then cleared to take standing showers with assistant chairs and his mental capacity had increased to where we were able to communicate with him clearly .
On the 28th of august he had another echocardiogram which showed that the infection shredded his valve ans he was needing a replacement , open heart surgery. This information for anyone is a lot but Myles being afraid of hospitals and with big understanding due to the loss of his fiancé. Myles is a family man so not being able to see his mom siblings nieces nephews and especially his son kicked him hard he fell into a depression and this slowed down his progression. He stopped eating and the lack of physical exertion caused him to loose a lot of weight. For those who knew or know Myles that man hasn’t weighed under 200lbs due to his job and happy appetite for steak and potatoes since he was 16 wrestling in high school he is currently weighing in at 161lbs .. but With the fight from myself and my mother we were able To get my mom into the hospital to see him for 3-8 hours 3 days in a row which helped immensely but Due to him being moved back up a floor because of the cardiac progression visitation and Covid policy was put back into place .
As of September Myles has progressed a lot his mental health physical abilities and watch his beloved Seahawks now that’s the season has started . Myles is now able to walk 300ft with his walker stand for 10 minutes for a shower , feed himself and play a little on his phone without falling asleep.. but he’s on out of the woods just yet. On September 24th Myles will be having open heart surgery to replace the shredded valve due to the infection . Myles has a lot of hard work and a long recovery and ahead of him and this is why we are reaching out for help. Myles is improving but the heart surgery will put him in the hospital another 3-4 weeks after this and as you all may know life and bills don’t stop because you are in the hospital. He still has his car payments , back rent , PUD , Cellphone and many other bills that his unemployment are unable to help him pay off . We are asking for the $5,000 to not only help his with his past due rent bills and medical expenses that his current insurance doesn’t cover (er visit from the 9th) and further bills that he will have to in the upcoming months..
For those who are wanting to know about nic. He is growing big and strong and stayin with myself and my mom . his hollow boy is with a friend being spoiled rotten and both are doing great !!!
any other updates or how they can help please reach out to ME as the flood of texts to Myles or my mother will be VERY OVERWHELMING and they are very mentally exhausted and can harbor his success I. Healing . If you could Give something or nothing but even a share or kind words could help my family in this time of utter chaos .
WE ARE ENTIRELY THANKFUL AND GRATEFUL TO HAVE FRIENDSAND FAMILY SUCH AS YOURSELF , thank you !
