WARNING: DISTRESSING IMAGES IN THE UPDATE POSTS!!
On 11th January we noticed our girl Luna had started behaving differently, she lost all appetite, was hiding away and was extremely lethargic. A day or so before my Nana sadly passed away and we thought Luna could sense our sadness and was reacting to this however, on 12th January we noticed swelling had appeared behind her head, and we were getting little to no reactions out of her. We knew something was wrong, so we took her for an emergency out of hours appointment. Within the space of 24 hours, swelling had increased, and she had a large fluid like lump appear on her neck/throat.
After several emergency appointments Luna was referred and admitted to a specialist animal hospital with a suspected ear abscess and after lots of tests and CT scans, it was discovered that she had developed a severe abscess from a rupture within her ear canal. We thought it was just the one ear, but the CT scan has also showed her other ear is beginning to reach this point too.
Luna was sedated and the abscess was lanced and drained. However, due to the severity of the abscess and the rupture within her ear canal, Luna will require bilateral ear canal ablation, a surgical procedure to remove both of her ear canals.
Over this past week Luna’s veterinary bills have reached just over £4000 and this surgery is likely to cost a further £6000, which is sadly money we don’t have.
We would do anything for our girl, and this is my last hope to give her a fighting chance to have many more years, playing with her doggy friends and chasing squirrels in the garden. We’re hoping and praying Luna will make a full recovery but unfortunately, she still has a long way to go, and this surgery is just the start.
Please donate if you can, even if it is only 1p, every penny will give her a fighting chance to have this surgery.
With all our love,
Sophie, Nick and most importantly our girl Luna x
