For our dearest friend Selwyn Eng and family

I met Selwyn in the strangest way yet from the moment we met I knew that we would be best of friends.  Selwyn is the guy that would have your back even at great sacrifice.  He will never complain, he will just do whatever that was necessary even before anyone ever realizes it.

His passion for basketball, good food, a good laugh and long philosophical talks about how pizza should be made, that passion never waned.  He always loves the art of the deal like how he got a car for half of what it was worth or when he was able to get something that was worth five bucks for only one, even though he had to get a hundred of them.  He only needed one but the possibilities were endless!

Selwyn and Sylvie have had an incredible journey, getting married and having two beautiful kids Audrina and Austin from New York, then relocating down to Virginia for work to now pursuing the dream of making the best pizza money can buy in Malaysia.  Each step of journey more challenging than the next but making them that much more resilient.

Too fast, too soon, too quick.

With the cancer diagnosis in 2018 he did what he always does, keep fighting it.  Our resilience will persevere over this challenge. "It's Whack a Mole" he says,  a game he always is convinced that he was going to beat.  In the midst of his treatment, he and Sylvie built up their own restaurant from the ground up.  From picking the location, hiring, buying the equipment, deciding the menu, handling the day to day operations.  It is and really incredible feat of sheer will. https://www.facebook.com/718Pizza/  Its the best pizza and desserts in town, providing a touch of NY in Malaysia, one of a kind.

The pandemic has also impacted their restaurant as well.  For a long period of time they were shutdown and had to provide take away only.  This challenge for a fledging restaurant was indeed difficult but they were able to persevere.  The combination of the best NY style pizza and desserts allowed them to stay afloat.

During the summer he took a turn for the worse, the pain was so severe that the only relief was to lay on his back and progressively worsened.  He passed early in the morning of October 3rd 2020 with Sylvie by his side.

I am deeply saddened that he is no longer with us anymore.  He made me a better person.

This gofundme page is to help Sylvie in this time of need to support the restaurant and the raising of their two young kids Audrina(11) and Austin(9).

All funds will go to Sylvie.
