Aloha, my name is Torie Hoʻopiʻi, and I have started this GoFundMe to help pay for our keikiʻs love and passion for year-round competitive club volleyball.

My husband and I are native Hawaiians raising six children, four still under our house and care. It has been a rough last five months for our island home of Maui.

I was born and raised in Lahaina, Maui, and the town, community, and family that raised me have been dealing with such tragic loss since the August 8th fire.

My momʻs business of 36 years is now closed, and the building is no longer standing. Many of our direct and extended family have lost their homes, and I have decided to ʻauamo or carry the kuleana and render aid to the families and my alumni in that area.

I am also a part-time student at UH Manoa, earning degree in Hawaiian Studies degree, which I will graduate 2027. Taking three credits this semester, plus everything else I do for the community, leaves little room for a full-time job.

Because our children love volleyball so much, and their heart and passion are to play this sport full time as they have for many years, we couldnʻt deny them this privilege even though we were going through such hardships financially, mentally, and spiritually.

We currently have three children playing for the top volleyball club in Maui. Our son, Richard, who graduates this year is the setter for the 18ʻs boys team.

Our 14-year-old daughter secured a spot on the Girls 15 team is hitter/ Op Hitter.

Their first tournament is this November, and are scheduled for 5 total tournaments this year. Hopefully two on the continent.

All of our children have played for club volleyball and we appreciate your support in making their dreams possible.

Besides the dues for the club, the parent is also responsible for the player's travel, tournament fees, lodging, and other expenses.

I would appreciate any donation you can offer to support me and my family. Your generosity would allow my children to pursue their dreams of playing competitive volleyball and participating in various tournaments, where the older ones may have the opportunity to be noticed by college recruiters.

We have one daughter in college and my husband is still unemployed.
