We recently took Maru for a routine check up to see if he was healthy for his age and instead found out that he has a form of oral cancer. The doctor pointed out that there was a tumor rapidly growing within his mouth and recommended that we run tests and do a biopsy. The doctor gave us the green light to put him under anesthesia and the date for all the tests and biopsy is September 4th 2019.  Once we find out exactly how aggressive it is, the next step is to surgically remove the mass. 

For everyone who knows Maru can all agree that he is a special guy to all of us. From the way he looks at you when he wants attention to the way he falls in your arms when you hold him like a baby, he just has that calming aura about him that you can’t get enough of. You can’t help but to fall in love with him. 

Writing about all this has been a difficult task for Eric and I. Like a lot of paw-parents, we have this immense love for him that is hard to describe with words. Call us a bit over-dramatic but we would do anything for him. We would walk to the ends of the earth if we knew it would help him live a little better than the last. 

Maru’s doctor said the minimum cost for the biopsy, lab tests, and surgery would run around $7500. So we are hoping to raise enough to help cover even a little chunk of the cost. 

With all that said, we ask our friends and family to help raise money for the upcoming treatments and surgery for our beloved Maru.
