Hello Friends And Family,
I hope you are all healthy and peaceful. It's been a hard week for so many of us now that Jen has transitioned.
Jen was a super star in our desert town, one that hundreds of of us danced with, and thousands of us watched during the All Souls Procession hanging up high entertaining us all with her brilliance! Or dancing at Tucson Meet Yourself on stage! She was a dedicated nurse, working passionately always. I will never forget her telling me a story of loosing a leech she was using on a patient and it went up his nose or something! We laughed so damn hard at that. Yeah, she was brave as HELL. And she danced with FIRE, GRACE and LOVE.
So many of us are so sad, heartbroken, all the while feeling how unfair it all is to loose our young sister friend. Loosing someone you love, someone who is much too young to pass, after such a brave fight with cancer is simply unfair. Of course Jen forever lives in our hearts and dance steps and drum beats! And, it is just: hard. There is no way around all the amounts of hard.
The loved ones that do the sacred task of arranging everything after one passes is very very very hard. And expensive. Not to mention, grief can make it impossible to work, to ask for help, to buy groceries, to function at all. I know this first hand after loosing my dad, I could not work for months, and my community helped me. And this is why I encouraged Ruben, Jen's longtime partner, to allow me to create this fundraiser so that our community can all hold him right now in support as he arranges all of the things one must do- post transition. For our beloved Jen now flying high, and also for her beloved, our beautiful brother Ruben, who is deep in grief, taking care of all of the heartbreaking details after loosing the love of his life.
