Our 6 month old puppy Opie was attacked on July 8th at heritage dog park. Ever since then he’s been in severe pain. We brought him to the vet and they said he was suffering from two sprained legs, the cost of the X-rays and medication was about $350. A few days later, still in severe pain, it seemed like it was more than just his legs so we took him to another vet and they ended up sedating him and giving him emergency surgery for his anal glands which in total cost about $950. We thought we had finally figured out what was wrong and that he would start recovering. Another couple days go by and he woke up screaming and crying in pain, we rushed him to the Alta vista animal hospital and he’s been there fir 2 days. A radiologist checked him and is pretty sure that it’s a bacterial infection called “discospondylitis”that is affecting his spinal cord and if not treated quick enough he may become paralyzed. So far we’ve spent another $2000 there and the hospital wants to do an mri to guarantee that that is exactly what it is so that he is put on the right antibiotics, if it’s the right diagnoses the antibiotics will help him and he will make a full recovery in about 6 months to a year. The mri can be anywhere from $5000 to $6000. Our poor baby has been through so much suffering the last month and he means everything to us. We want to make sure that he actually has the right diagnoses this time and hoping to have the mri done, he’s only 6 months old and still has so much life to live. I’m not one to usually ask for help but Opie means the world to us and any little bit could help us with all the vet bills, cost of mri, medication etc. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and thank you from the bottom of our hearts for any donations ♥️
