Meet Ollie — our sweet, smart, 4-year-old Mini Goldendoodle and the heart of our family.
Ollie came into our lives unexpectedly four years ago after his original owner passed away. He was being fostered by someone we knew and came to us on Father’s Day 2022. We never planned for him to stay — but four years later, he’s still here, and we can’t imagine our family without him.
Ollie loves his family, our adventures, and especially his walks. He’s also a neighbourhood celebrity who has a special talent for turning even the most “not-a-dog-person” people into dog lovers. He likes to impress people (for treats) by sounding like a pirate, he can shake a paw & then the other paw, give high 5s, as well as give kisses on demand and frequently out of the blue. He will even dramatically play dead when you pretend to shoot him.
On Sunday, Ollie had what seemed like a small fall. Since then, he has been unable to use his hind legs and is in significant pain and distress. He’s even struggling to get comfortable in his favourite dog bed.
Ollie has been diagnosed with Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD) and urgently needs surgery at a specialty hospital in Oakville. This surgery has a 93% success rate and could give Ollie the chance to walk again. Without it, the risk of permanent paralysis is extremely high.
Our goal is simple: we want Ollie to walk again and enjoy the things he loves with the people who love him.
We are asking for help covering the cost of his surgery and medical care. Every donation, no matter the amount, brings Ollie one step closer to getting back on his feet. If you can’t donate, please share Ollie’s story. A share could reach someone who can help.
Thank you so much for supporting Ollie and my family.
