My name is Jason Muldoon and since the age of 20 I have been involved in MMA competing at amateur and professional level.
From the first time I walked into that gym, I have never felt so comfortable and it has become my true love.

In the past few years I have competed in a few BJJ competitions and have kept myself reasonably fit.
Since June’23 I began to struggle with back pain and no matter what I tried, I just could not get it healed.
On 5th July my life changed for good.
I was rushed to hospital and told that I needed spinal surgery immediately to ease pressure on my back.
I had 2 bulging discs in my back that had begun to choke nerves in the lower half of body.
I was diagnosed with an illness called Cauda Equina syndrome which affects the bottom half of the body from working properly.
I spent the following 12 weeks in a rehabilitation centre to help me learn how to walk again.
At 45 years of age I have been told that I will spend the rest of my life in a wheelchair with intermittent use of crutches but will eventually end up in the chair for life.
I have gone from being such an active person being in the gym 5-6 days per week to becoming wheelchair bound and having to find new sporting interests.

I have recently begun playing a number of wheelchair sports such as Basketball, Rugby and Hurling.
As I’m a tall man at 6’2 there are no wheelchairs to suit my height so I’m trying to raise funds to help buy a new custom made sports wheelchair.
Any support no matter how small would be so greatly appreciated
