Tribute written by Scotty Vincent:
It is with profound sadness that I share the passing of Neal Ward.
I know that any one person’s words will fail to precisely represent Neal, so I encourage readers to share their memories and support with each other, here and in private.
At the center of Neal was unadulterated potential. To know him was to understand that he could accomplish whatever task he set himself to, could be whomever he decided to be. He danced on the boundaries of whimsical and intense, sincere and blithe, headstrong and teachable; all while being profoundly lovable and intelligent. Neal would, I’m sure, insist that I not forget his charm, devilish good looks, or musical inclination. He was a son, brother, friend, student, and fashion icon. He was brilliant, kind, and genuine. We will never stop missing him.
We can best honor his memory by living as he did: by loving each other as he loved us, and by never missing an opportunity to bring laughter into a dark place.
And while his peers now mourn their beloved friend, his family begins the seemingly impossible task of walking through the ultimate loss. We cannot curb their pain; but, perhaps, we can clear away financial obstacles that threaten to further burden the Ward family during this difficult time.
Please give what you can to support the burial and memorial expenses for our dear lost brother.
