For my sister, Deb.

This fundraiser is being set up for my sister, Deborah Billings. I’m going to give you some background to help you better understand. This past February she noticed a knot out from her clavicle/ left shoulder and her upper back and shoulders had been bothering her. After a doctor's visit and a couple of ER visits, she was scheduled for an MRI to see what was going on. All of these things are happening in the midst of the COVID Pandemic. My Mom went to Salem, VA, because she wasn’t answering her phone, very unlike her. When she arrived my sister was in dire straits. She was not eating, very confused, and not able to get around. On the first of April she was taken by rescue squad to Lewis-Gale Hospital. It is then we got the horrific and very debilitating news that our Deb had cancer. Not just any cancer but the most profound cancer out there: Metastatic Multiple Myeloma.
On Easter Sunday my Mom called me in a terrible state to say a PA had told her that Deb may not make it through the night. My youngest sister, my oldest daughter, and her husband, myself,

and one of my best friends head to Salem. It was unbelievable, Deb didn’t know who we were, very confused and looked so frail in that hospital bed. They came up with a treatment plan for cancer and radiation for the tumor. Over the next couple of months, she had multiple trips to the ER, had to be given a lot of blood, of course, she had many treatments, radiation, and chemo, during this couple of months. She was back at home and was having severe back and leg pain and agreed to make an ER trip. They ended up having to go to emergency surgery because of tumors at the base of her spine. Without immediate surgery, she could be paralyzed. According to the surgeon, it was successful also stating that he removed “piles” of tumors but couldn’t get to them all. More radiation. They found out a few weeks ago they found out the chemo she was receiving was only killing half of her cancer. She was referred to UVA. There we found out that she had a very weakened heart muscle, which was causing tremendous breathing problems, from a mix of cancer, radiation, and chemo. They came up with a 6-drug chemo cocktail she would receive orotund the clock for five days, around the clock... she will have to continue these treatments every two weeks at UVA. These past few months have been hell in her.
To think my sister Deb was the poster child for eating healthy, she was doing cross-fit and yoga. She was a phlebotomist, realtor and had always taken care of herself and raised her son. Now she has to have help with everything and she’s not through this journey yet.
The medical bills are phenomenal and she has no significant other to help with the costs. That is the reason for this fundraiser. She needs all the help we can get for her and I’m asking you to help. The smallest donation will help, and if you just can’t swing it right now, please pray for her. We serve an awesome GOD. May God keep and bless each one of you ️ ️ ️
