For my mom's hospitalization, medical bills
Hi, my name is Ligaya Alicaway and I'm from Fredericton, NB, Canada. My siblings (Renalie, Yvonne, Sheryl and Jehu) and I decided to set up this GoFundMe fundraising for my mother Lita Alfeche Alicaway. Unfortunately, she is currently at Chong Hua Hospital in Mandaue City, Cebu, Philippines battling COVID-19. On August 13, 2021 she felt the usual COVID-19 symptoms such as cough and fever. As the days go by, the symptoms worsen. Knowing she has an asthma, we decided to hook an oxygen for her. On August 17th, my siblings rushed her to the hospital, however, due to the increasing number of COVID cases back home, she wasn't admitted immediately. She waited outside the hospital for the next two days. On August 19th, on her third day, she was finally able to be admitted at the ER and given the necessary medications and attention. She was classified under critical COVID and doctors told us she got the Delta variant.
We were told that we need to prepare minimum 1 Million Pesos for her recovery. Since August 19th, doctors give her Remidesivir and Tocilizumab. Her heart rate is fluctuating. Her oxygen level is stable but still under observation. On August 24th, she was given steroids because as per x-ray results the virus is still on her lungs. This leads to the decision of the doctors to have her intubated. We were told that she will be transferred to Intensive Care Unit on Saturday August 28th.
Everything is uncertain for now but we believe that our mother will survive. We are beyond heartbroken and devastated about our mother's situation. For almost 2 years, we learned about COVID by watching or reading but it is a different story when it hits your own home. My siblings and I pooled our own funds to help our mother but sadly it is not enough. We are humbly asking for any help that you could extend to us and to our family in this difficult time. All financial donations will be used towards our mother's hospital bills and medicines. Thank you for your time in reading this and please keep us in your prayers.
