About me:  My name is Daria. I am 14 years old and I live in Germany in a group home. I’m someone who really loves being around people. I do cheer, and I also coach cheer, which is something I’m very passionate about. I love teamwork, energy, and supporting others. Outside of cheer, I love singing and learning new languages. I’ve always been curious about other cultures and the world beyond my own environment. One of my biggest dreams is to become a US exchange student in 2027/2028 and experience life in a completely different country. For me, this is not just about travel — it is about growth, independence, and learning through real life experience.
 My story:  Because I live in a group home, I have missed out on several opportunities that many other young people can access more easily. These experiences are very important to me, and not being able to take part in some of them has been difficult. The opportunity that affected me the most was a one-week exchange trip to England. I really wanted to go, but I was unable to take part due to my situation. That experience stayed with me, because it made me realize how deeply I want to experience the world and be part of exchange programs. For about three years, I have been preparing myself and learning about scholarships and exchange opportunities. I put a lot of effort into it and tried to find ways to make it work. Last year, I applied for a scholarship — but I was not successful. That was very disappointing for me, because I had worked toward it for a long time. Despite that, I did not give up. I kept going and kept hoping that I would find another way.
Why I’m raising Funds: After talking with my mom, she agreed that I could go on an exchange year — but only if I am able to pay for it myself. Because scholarships have not worked out so far, I am now trying to raise the funds myself. I am also actively working and doing what I can to contribute financially on my own. I am trying to take responsibility and do everything within my ability to move closer to this goal. An exchange year is not just about learning a new language. It is about experiencing a new culture, stepping into a different environment, and growing as a person. It is something I have dreamed about for a long time, and becoming a US exchange student is one of my biggest life goals. Right now, I am taking this dream into my own hands and doing everything I can to make it possible. I know this is not something small or easy to ask for. It is a big goal, and I understand that. But I am truly grateful for any support. Every donation, no matter how small, brings me one step closer to making this dream come true.
