My family and I lost the man who raised me and my moms partner in life. Niki died two days after my wedding on June 22nd 2019. 

Niki was diagnosed with Liver Cancer earlier this year with 6 months to live. Niki was excited to come out to Florida and welcome steph to the family. After his diagnosis, he started declining at a faster rate as expected. My mother was left with the choice of coming to our wedding or staying at home. Niki was very adamant that she should not miss the wedding and told her he’d wait for her. Niki tried his hardest and fought until the end. The day after the wedding, my mother received bad news that Niki only had hours to live. We all scrambled to fly my mother and sister home one new flights during prime season. Niki died while my mother was on the plane home, hoping to say goodbye.

My family does not like asking for help, but with the early flights home and funeral cost, it placed a great financial burden on my family. I would like to ease that burden on my mom with the help of friends and family so she can focus on mourning her loss.
