As I turn 40 this month (note the HARD SWALLOW), I’ve been thinking a lot about what matters most: my family, mental health advocacy, and the fight for stronger mental health care.

Instead of gifts or a big celebration, I am asking for something more meaningful: support for my son’s ongoing mental health care.

My son is an incredible, complex young man who has been struggling with significant mental health challenges for years. His journey has included hospitalizations, treatment facilities, and countless therapies. These supports are essential, but they often come with overwhelming financial burdens, many of which are not covered by insurance.

As his mother, I want nothing more than to give him the stability and professional support he needs to grow into a healthy, thriving young adult. At the same time, I am committed to advocating for families like ours and building awareness around the reality of mental health care for children.
