Help Lay Matthew to Rest
Madonna Simmons tragically lost her beloved son Matthew Rios on June 17, 2019. He was shot and killed while driving home from work that evening. He was only 33-years-old. He was taken from his loved ones far too soon.
Matthew was Madonna’s only child and the center of her world. Since his infancy, she raised him alone after his father passed away suddenly. Matthew lived with his mother and was like her right hand. She is so terribly lost without him.
Matthew will always be remembered as a caring, loving, sweet, and loyal young man. He was beloved not only by his mom but also by a large, close-knit extended family; his dear friends; and his coworkers. In addition to the people who love him here, he leaves behind his girlfriend in the Philippines, whom he planned to marry next year.
Please help Madonna, the Simmons and the Rios families lay their beloved Matthew to rest. The funds will go directly to Madonna and will pay for Matthew’s funeral costs and some expenses for her as she will need to take time off from work to grieve, recuperate, and because Matthew also provided for their household. Any amount you can help with is greatly appreciated, as are your prayers.

The California Highway Patrol did not have any suspects at the time this fundraiser was set up. The shooting occurred on Monday, June 17th, between 9:00 pm and 10:00 pm on northbound Highway 680 near the Landess Avenue exit in the San Jose/Milpitas area.
