Luis Felipe is my friend, he lives in Panama, and he needs money for maxillofacial surgery to restore his upper and lower maxillary. This operation will bring him back to normal, and he will be able to eat, speak and smile as usual.

Luis Felipe was born with a full cleft in lip and palate. Throughout his childhood, he required numerous surgical procedures to treat his condition. These procedures included a number of bone grafts and tissue restorations, among other things.

As an adult, the loss of bone in the upper jaw made him lose all his upper denture. This required a surgical procedure to fit a set of upper implants and prostheses. Later, it became necessary to do the same thing in the lower maxillary.

It has been 18 years since that. In December 2021, he began to feel his teeth move, got some pain when chewing, and found it difficult to eat. The doctors confirmed the implants had lost their grip on the bone and that a new procedure is required. He is at risk that his jaw will break at any moment.

At this point, he needs to replace these implants because the bone around them is lost. He needs to get a bone graft, and the doctors said it has to be done as soon as possible...

He requires a specialized procedure that must be performed by a well-experienced doctor at facilities with the required, advanced technology, which mostly are available in the US. Luis Felipe needs your help to receive the treatment and return to his normal life. Without the surgery, he will lose his teeth and won´t be able to eat or speak.

He is the father of two young adults, Alejandro and Virginia, who are attending university. He has been married to Doumarys for 24 years. I graduated from University with Doumarys; I know this family from the very beginning.

Luis Felipe lost his job in 2017 and was unemployed for 4 years due to the economic recession and the COVID-19 pandemic. He is an engineer with an MBA and actually works in a technology company (he began in January 2022), but after being so long with no income, he is broke. His health insurance does not cover any of the costs. Without this surgery, he won´t be able to work, and his life will be severely affected.

To clarify, this is not an aesthetic surgery, it's to allow him to have a fully operational tooth palate so he can eat and speak normally.

Luis Felipe nació con apertura completa del paladar y labio. Durante su niñez, él requirió de numerosas intervenciones quirúrgicas para tratar su condición. Estos procedimientos incluyeron varios injertos de hueso y de piel para restaurar su cielo del paladar y la falta de hueso en maxilar superior, entre otras intervenciones.

Ya en su edad adulta, la pérdida de hueso en su maxilar superior hizo que perdiera gran parte de su dentadura superior. Esta situación requirió procedimientos para colocar implantes superiores en su hueso cigomático y prótesis total superior. Y posteriormente, el hueso de su maxilar inferior, ya debilitado, se retrajo perdiendo también dentadura inferior. Posteriormente se hizo necesario colocar implantes y prótesis inferiores.

Han sido 18 años desde la primera colocación de implante. En diciembre del 2021, Luis Felipe comenzó a sentir movilidad en sus prótesis, dolor y dificultad para masticar y comer. Los doctores en panamá confirmaron que algunos de los implantes habían perdido agarre a los huesos, y que se requería un nuevo procedimiento quirúrgico. Tiene riesgo de que se fracture la mandíbula por la debilitación de los huesos alrededor de los implantes existentes.

El necesita reemplazar los implantes, restaurar las áreas de hueso perdidas. Esto debe hacerlo inmediatamente antes que el daño sea mayor.

Debido al grado de especialización, técnicas y experiencia que requiere este tipo de cirugía, las clínicas que poseen esta experticia están fuera de Panamá, donde actualmente reside. Luis Felipe, necesita ayuda económica para recibir este tratamiento y poder volver a su vida normal. Con estos fondos el podrá realizarse la cirugía de restauración de sus maxilares superior e inferior. Esta operación es crítica para que él no pierda su capacidad de comer, hablar y sonreír en forma normal.

Él es padre de dos adolescentes, Alejandro y Virginia, que son excelentes estudiantes universitarios. Casado con Doumarys, desde hace 24 años. Yo conozco a su magnífica familia desde hace muchos años.
