After 20 days with no improvement, Kaysen and his family are fighting for answers and recovery.
Help Kaysen Fight for Recovery
Hi everyone, I’m reaching out to share what my nephew and his family are enduring, and ask for your prayers, love, and support as they face an incredibly difficult time.
Just a few weeks ago, Kaysen was a healthy, active 16-year-old — in school, laughing with friends, and doing all the things he loves. Then, without warning, he developed sudden and severe neurological symptoms. Within days, he lost his ability to walk on his own, his speech became slurred, and he’s been struggling with constant dizziness, nausea, and exhaustion ever since. He’s also unable to keep his eyes open for long periods of time without becoming severely dizzy and throwing up. It’s now been over 20 days with no signs of improvement, and he continues to fight through every single day with incredible strength.
After weeks of countless tests, the doctors still don’t have clear answers. They’ve ruled out stroke, tumors, multiple sclerosis and so many others. The current belief is that Kaysen’s immune system may be attacking part of his brain — the cerebellum, which controls balance and coordination. This type of autoimmune response is extremely rare and difficult to diagnose or treat.
Anyone who knows Kaysen knows he always has a smile on his face and a heart bigger than most. He’s kind, compassionate, and selfless. Kaysen has shown so much courage and resilience through all of this, even on his hardest days. His parents, Nathan and Kelsey, have been by his side every moment, working with specialists and doing everything possible to get him the care he needs.
I’ve set up this GoFundMe to help relieve some of the financial stress so the Densley's can focus on what matters most — helping their son Kaysen, heal.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for surrounding this family with love, faith, and hope.
— Shaylee, Kaysen’s Aunt
