For Kayla Jemmott, For Family

Greetings family it’s Jelani Sulieman. I am the grandson of Loretta-Fatima Sulieman. I’m creating this GoFundMe for my beloved cousin Kayla Jemmott. As I’m sure you all know, Kayla unfortunately suffers from ataxia - the same genetic disease as our grandfather, Yusef, and her mother, Malika, sadly passed away from.

Kayla‘s condition has worsened to the point where she is no longer able to be cared for in Pennsylvania, where she was living with a friend of hers, and must be brought back to DC ASAP. She is our family and we welcome her home with all the resources, love, and care that we have. However, her condition has worsened within such a short amount of time, we are not able to financially secure the round the clock care that she needs before she arrives to Washington DC. We are working diligently to try and get assistance through DC Medicaid, but will not be able to have it in place before she arrives in early March. In fact, it will take months to get approved for a home health aide. This means Kayla’s care and supplies will have to be paid for out-of-pocket.

We have created this GoFundMe to reach out to you, beloved family, and ask for a donation to assist with the medical cost until we can get the proper services in place. Whatever you can give is greatly appreciated and you can be assured that every dime received is going to be going to her care. Kayla’s condition is severe and with the money we received from this GoFundMe, we will be able to provide her with a professional caregiver that will be able to properly support her. We will also be able to buy all of the amenities required to make her life comfortable and ease her time here while she has this disease.
