Just 48 Hours In — We Are Astonished The grace and generosity of this community has taken our breath away. Thank you. We are now reached over 40% of our goal and we aim to reach 50% in the next 24 hours. If you haven't given — today is the day. Please share the campaign - you could reach out a person who carries us to over the half way mark!
Karin Konstantynowicz is a mother, researcher, writer, producer, reader and lifelong advocate. In December 2025 Karin found out she had Stage 4 Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer. Advances in diagnostics meant researchers identified the genetic mutation responsible. Met Exon 14 Skipping. This rare marker appears in less than 3% of all NSCLC patients. Her oncology team presented three treatment options. The best choice was Tepotinib, a medication that targets the exact mutation. Simply, it is two pills a day taken with food. This approved drug is seen as a global standard of care. It works for most patients and has tolerable side effects. However it is not covered by our health care system.
Karin is grateful to her sister Barb, who paid for the first six months of treatment. This initial period provided clinical evidence that the drug is effective. The treatment is working. Lung tumours have shrunk by 67%. Karin is feeling much better.
Her oncologist applied for compassionate access following clinical improvement, securing a 40% reduction — but even so, the cost remains out of reach.
Tepotinib, like many specialized cancer drugs, is expensive. Because it is not publicly funded, the treatment costs $11,000 per 28 day cycle.
For those of us who know Karin well, it's no surprise she has thrown herself into learning ever since the diagnosis.
She is connecting with advocacy groups and other lung cancer patients. She is learning about the disease and the challenges many face in getting timely and appropriate treatment. She is actively lobbying and will keep you posted on her efforts.
We are raising funds for ongoing Tepotinib treatment. The treatment is making a real difference. Karin is responding well. Her tumours are shrinking and she's feeling better. Stopping treatment could put that at risk, which is why every donation matters.
Karin should be focused on getting better, not on whether she can afford the treatment that is helping her survive.
She has spent decades giving to the common good. Now her community is stepping up to support her ongoing treatment. This is our opportunity to give back to her.
Her oncologist advises planning for at least another 18 months of Tepotinib. 18 months of continued treatment will cost $120,000, so that is the amount we are aiming to raise.
Please support Karin's access to this life-saving treatment.
