Janica's Journey to Kidney Transplantation

Hello! My name is Janica Villarosa and I'm launching this fundraising for my kidney transplant cost. And I'm intimately sharing my life story with you.

On February 2017, it was like a horrible nightmare for me. The moment my family and I knew my health diagnosis, my whole dreams and life goals were falling into pieces. It was so hard to believe that at 22 years old, I’ll be suffering from “Acute Glomerulonephritis” resulting in end-stage renal failure. When the doctor said that there was no other help but to undergo hemodialysis or kidney transplant if we have the means to get going with the pre and post-transplant procedure, my body went numb and I’m trying to grip all that she said. We consulted different nephrologists on this matter but end up like they have the same conclusion. The doctor already gives advice on hemodialysis treatment for me to get rid of severe body toxication.

I'm scared that the dreams I’ve been dreaming to achieve someday would remain dreams forever. I tried not to show my brokenness to my family. I tried to keep the battle inside of me because they have known me as a strong independent girl, but not this time. I literally underwent the stages of grief.

I can say that the first three years were the hardest part. It is so exhausting not just physically but also financially. But still, life goes on by God's Grace.
