Landslide ~ loss of home & dog for Fritts Family

My name is Jamee Dunn, and maybe you’ve seen the reason for this GoFundMe campaign on the news already.

My friends and father of my son Kai, James and Didi lost everything in a matter of minutes when the hill behind them came down and destroyed their home after one of the heaviest, most brutal rainstorms in Seattle history. If you see the house, the first floor where they were at the time of the incident has been completely flattened and they cannot believe they are alive.

Didi was reaching for the front door handle when the top story of their house crashed down onto the bottom floor. She fought her way to safety, crawling out from a tiny space under a planter. A refrigerator fell on James’ legs, and apparently that saved the rubble from crushing his vital organs. He was inside under the refrigerator for 45 minutes until the amazing Fire Fighters saved him with the jaws of life.  Their entire first floor demolished and flattened. There was no basement as the news reported.

Both are alive, but a beloved dog Lily died next to James, while the other, Sammy is still missing and assumed in the rubble. James and Didi are heartbroken. Those dogs were their babies. They purchased the house in 10 years ago, which sat on Perkins Lane in Seattle’s Magnolia neighborhood. It was a sweet little place, but the structure of the home was not insured for mud slides (not an option-correction, this was a $6K/mo option that was not affordable for them). For the record, they did have their home surveyed and approved by a geotech as well as had a new retaining wall built two years ago.  They loved where they lived, and it was home.

Friends and family, if you would like to help James and Didi get back on their feet, here is one way to send love and support. They will use these funds to get back on their feet as home owners insurance is being denied due to "act of God".  They are left with unlivable home and unsellable land.   The loss of their sweet pets is unbearable and clearly all of their earthly belongings are destroyed. All the while they are extremely grateful to be alive.

Update: hoodlums have gotten into the upstairs and stolen wallets and have been charging away since Saturday. ;-(

Thank you for considering a donation to this fund. The outpouring of love has been tremendous.  Thank you Thank you!!!!!
