FOR JAKE'S SAKE!

For those of you who don't know Jake Markulin, he is a bright young 26 year old man who is kind and witty.  He is one of those people who can lighten the mood with his sense of humor. He is a son and a friend to many, but most importantly, he is a daddy to a beautiful little girl (here we will refer to her as S.) and he needs your help. When Jake was only 14 years old, he was diagnosed with Choroidal Melanoma which left him blind in one eye.  After Jake finished with treatment, he continued to get chest x-rays and MRI's at his doctors instructions. After 5 years of no signs of cancer, Jake was happily cleared.  Last month, Jake was having pain that was severe enough to send him to the emergency room and that is the night that he received some devastating news.  Scans had showed that the cancer had come back and this time it was in both his lungs and his liver. The doctors are calling it Metastatic Uveal Melanoma. This past week, Jake met with the specialists at Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital to discuss treatment options. Jake and the family are remaining hopeful that he will be able to take part in a trial and beat this!  Financially, this will be impossible without your help. Jake currently lives in Delaware with the love of his life, Erin, and will need to travel and stay close to the hospital for treatment and expenses will be too much to handle alone.  It is not in his nature to ask for help so I am doing it for him. I'm not just asking, I'm begging you. S. needs her daddy.  S. has just turned 8 years old and her daddy is her hero. Please help us lighten the burden for Jake so that he can concentrate on getting better so that he can be here to watch S. graduate high school, walk her down the isle on her wedding day, and welcome his grandchildren into the world.  Whatever you can spare will be appreciated!
