For Jake. His family needs us now.

For Jake. I'm struggling to write this. The world has lost a great man, a loving father, brother, uncle...and an amazing, generous, and steadfast friend. A part of us was ripped away last night. Way too soon. But as deep and as painful our loss might feel, no one feels it more right now than his daughter Jillian. We have all been praying hard and hoping for the best possible outcome. But last night, with Jill holding his hand, Chris left us and passed away after fighting so hard to stay. He leaves behind his daughter, his brother Lee, and his niece Kasey. And hundreds of broken hearts. I'm not going to rehash the last few years, but we all know the sorrow, the pain and the obstacles Chris has faced and endured. His family and friends made it possible for him to face each day, to push on, to fight. He loved us with all his heart and it was impossible not to love him back just the same. His smile, his laugh and his spirit will never be forgotten.

In addition to this heartbreak, Jillian in now faced with arranging for the services of her father, our dear friend, as well as a mountain of medical expenses. I'm asking you all please to do whatever you can to help Chris and his family. No amount is too small at this time of need. Please do what you can and share this fundraiser with others. For Jake.
