“I don’t know how to start or how to ask for help—I have no idea how this is done. But I’m going to swallow my pride for the sake of my dog. I want to try the power of the internet and ask you to help.
Tonight, Jack suddenly got very sick. Everything was normal—Egor and I were sitting after dinner watching a movie. Our little Kusechka was lying on the bed in our bedroom, sleeping after his walk. Then, out of nowhere, he ran into the living room and started trying to vomit. But nothing was coming out. Egor reacted instantly—after about a minute of Jack’s retching, he started googling. A couple of minutes later, when the retching became constant and foam started coming from his mouth, we knew we had to get to the emergency room immediately.
I ran and woke up our neighbor so he could drive our dog to the hospital in the middle of the night—we didn’t want to waste a minute waiting for a taxi that might have refused to take us anyway. From the start of the seizure to the moment we entered the hospital, maybe 10–15 minutes passed, no more.
They took him from me right away, took him for X-rays, and said he needed emergency surgery because he had a twisted intestine. And that if he didn’t have the surgery, he would die within hours.
We, of course, gave our consent, accepting all the risks and consequences. At 2 a.m., they put him under anesthesia. At 5:00 a.m., the surgeon called and said the surgery had gone well. But now how he wakes up from anesthesia is critical—there’s still a risk to his life. At 7:37 a.m., they sent me a short video of what he looked like after anesthesia. The next 48–72 hours are the most important. He’ll be staying in the hospital under observation.
We were given a bill for €4024.45.
We don’t have that kind of money right now. And as bad luck would have it, for the first time since 2020 (COVID), I have no students this summer—and therefore no work.
I will be endlessly grateful to everyone who responds!”
