Love 4 Heather & Ocean- Help Raise Funds for Ocean's Healing

Hi, I’m Ixiim Flores, a close friend of Heather Aguilera.

By now, most of you have seen Heather‘s post about the horrific ski accident her son Ocean had this past Tuesday. On the last day of what had been a great trip with his girlfriend and her family, he was injured during a ski run, which resulted in 3 fractures in his pelvis, a dislocated hip, lots of bone fragments in the pelvic and hip areas, and a severe break in his right humerus (upper arm). Ocean had to undergo two emergency surgeries and is now stable, but the healing journey ahead is going to be a long one. He’s not able to bear any weight on his pelvis and hips and also cannot put weight on his right arm (so crutches are not an option). He will have to undergo extensive physical and occupational therapy.

Due to Ocean’s injuries, the surgeon said he is not able to fly, so the initial weeks of his recovery and treatment will have to take place in Utah. Heather is currently with him, which means, along with the mounting medical expenses, she is also not able to work - as a working artist, not working means no income - and is incurring all of the expenses of staying in a city away from home.

As you can imagine, medical expenses, travel expenses, and all the additional expenses are adding up quickly. While Heather does have insurance, the out-of-state (out-of-network) coverage is providing limited financial offsets. Additionally, when they are finally able to fly, she will have to purchase first-class tickets because Ocean will need to be in a reclined position during the flight.

Once Ocean is back home, they will be looking into placing him in an inpatient physical rehabilitation facility. (Average costs of this type of facility can range from $6,000 to $30,000 a month).

Heather has been such a bright light in our community, sharing her talent, her art, her light with so many of us. It’s time for us to rally around her and Ocean and surround them with love, prayers, and any financial support we can give. No contribution is too small.
