Mental health in the United States and around the world has been on the decline, especially in recent years due to the Covid-19 pandemic causing people to be stuck inside and isolated during lockdowns. Unfortunately, there is a large gap between those with a mental illness and those receiving treatment. The stigma and cost of therapy and treatment keep many people from seeking help. In Texas alone, 59% of people with mental health issues are not receiving treatment.
The Mental Health Collaborative seeks to fill this gap by proactively talking to people before problems arise. The Mental Health Collaborative improves mental health literacy in schools and communities. They have provided training and education in more than 20 countries on how to obtain and maintain good mental health, identify mental illness, decrease stigma, and improve efficacy for help-seekers. This education, particularly for school-age children and young adults can significantly improve mental health awareness and outcomes. With your donations, we can reach more people and hopefully prevent an avoidable tragedy.
