For Haley Wiebel
From her husband Mo:
“Haley was in a car accident at around 6:50am yesterday (11/9). A full size truck going 35-40 mph crossed the center line and hit her head on. The front of her vehicle collapsed trapping her in the drivers sit. She was trapped for 40 minutes while firefighters used the jaw of life to cut her out. I arrived just as they were pulling her out. The screams from her trauma were something I’ve never heard before and never want to hear again. The feeling of being completely helpless was unbearable.
The paramedics got her stabilized enough to get her to Mercy hospital. She was immediately greeted by doctors and nurses. They started running tests to fully diagnose what injuries she had sustained. They started pumping her with pain medication. As they checked for internal bleeding they had cut her clothes and shoes off. We are so thankful no internal bleeding was found on ultrasound.
She had surgery yesterday to repair her right femur that snapped about 5 inches above the knee. They put a rod inside her bone to stabilize and correct the break along with 4 screws to hold in place. She also had a shattered left radius in her forearm that required plates and screws to bring everything back together. She had a broken right metacarpal “pinky” that required realignment and pinned back in place. She was in surgery for over four plus hours and recovery for another hour. She will have surgery on Thursday to fix her broken right foot “lisfranc” is the type of break in her foot.
Haley feels much better after surgery compared to the traumatic pain she experienced up to her surgery yesterday. She still has a long road ahead of her in her recovery process.
Haley doesn’t currently have her phone. I have been sharing the overwhelming messages and well wishes of support and prayers with her. We are both so overwhelmed with everyone that has reached out with support, prayers and offerings of help. We can’t thank you all enough during this unbelievable time.
We want to give a shout out to the staff at Mercy Hospital from the moment Haley arrived they have been phenomenal in helping her get put back together! AMAZING! Also want to thank the Firefighters, Paramedics and Police Officers for the difficult job of caring for my wife.”
All funds raised go towards medical costs, on going recovery, and general support for the Wiebel family.
