For Graeme, with love ❤️
Graeme McRae and his fam need our help.
Graeme is 15 and a sophomore at Creekview High School in Carrollton, Texas. He loves math and science, music, dogs, the Office and his Xbox. He plays clarinet in the band and is a tenor in the top choir. He’s also an awesome student who dreams of a career in medicine.
Graeme has Duchenne muscular dystrophy — for which there is currently no cure — and relies on a wheelchair to get around.
Graeme’s mom and my friend and former colleague, Tagni, recently lost her job of 20 years due to the pandemic. Then, just a few weeks ago, Graeme took a bad fall and broke his leg. Before that, it was getting harder to load Graeme into the family’s non-accessible vehicles. With the cast, it’s virtually impossible.
A good used accessible van — which runs between $45 and $50k — will greatly ease transportation worries and allow Graeme to eventually go back to school while he stays in his power wheelchair. Tagni is working hard to return to the workforce as a teacher, but with her job loss, plans to buy the van have been tabled for now.
Let’s chip in to make the van a reality sooner while lightening the load for this special family, which includes Graeme’s dad, Richard, and little sister, Keira. Please consider donating (and sharing!) Thank you.
