Foxy is a twin to his sister Navy, born via emergency c-section after his heart rate began baselining during an exhausting week-long labour. Since birth, he has struggled with severe breathing issues—tracheal tugging, chest retractions, and blue spells. After being dismissed multiple times at Dubbo Hospital and even laughed at by doctors who told her he would “grow out of it,” his mum Mak trusted her instincts, packed the twins into the car, and drove to Westmead Children’s Hospital. There, after extensive testing, Foxy was diagnosed with bilateral vocal cord palsy—an incredibly rare condition occurring in just 0.75 per million births each year, so rare that most medical staff have never even heard of it.
Foxy now depends on a feeding tube with no clear end date, and requires high-calorie formula, which runs out quickly with twins to feed. Tubing supplies alone cost the family $500+ each month. For the past three months, hospital life has been their reality, unable to return home yet still facing everyday bills. Although they’ve finally been allowed beyond the hospital walls, they cannot leave more than 40km from John Hunter Hospital.
The financial strain has been extreme—supporting life in Newcastle while still paying rent and bills at home so they have somewhere to return to. Even when home visits are eventually allowed, Foxy will face countless medical appointments requiring long trips back and forth. Let's help this little family to have a little piece of mind so they can focus on their babies. If you would prefer to pay directly to the family the number for their pay id is 0481 113 412
