I’ve never been a big fan of the growing trend of GoFundMe posts, but this one has me more than a little bit hopeful and excited. So…
As many of you our friends and family know, our second oldest, Emily, has gone through hell and back the last few years. I won’t publicly betray her confidence – I’ll just keep it simple: She’s struggled and made some awful choices, fallen into a pit of pain and suffering, and experienced firsthand the grace and love of Jesus and His people, some of you included! She’s been clean for one full year as of May 6th(!), living with us again these last several months, and currently working two jobs and saving money. Keri and I could not be happier for or more proud of her! She’s doing AMAZING.
Emily will be 21 in November and, in so many ways, is just now really starting to look forward with hope and anticipation for what life after high school can look like for her. She’s interviewing with Frontier Airlines next month for the position of Flight Attendant, although she’s unsure if that’s what God wants for her in this season. She’s more seriously considering moving back to Phoenix and attending Grand Canyon University, a great Christian school in a community where she’s already made a few connections. She and I are flying out there together late next month to visit the campus.
All of that is for context. Regardless of what she does next, she doesn’t have a car.
Right now, she’s working hard, living at home for free, and saving every penny she can from her two jobs. But realistically, until she gets about $10,000 saved, her options on transportation (and therefore moving anywhere) are limited.
Would you consider encouraging the heck out of Emily as well as tangibly helping her get her feet under her with a contribution toward “A Gift for Emily – So You Can Go ANYWHERE!”?
Whether it’s a little or a lot, I’m confident she is loved and has been cheered on by so many of you already. Lots and lots of prayers have been lifted for her these last few years from a ton of you. So many of you continue to ask us for updates on Emily, and it’s been so fun to grin and brag on what God has done in her life!
Would you prayerfully consider blessing her in this tangible way w/ a reliable used car?
On behalf of my favorite redhead on the planet – THANK YOU!
Loren
P.S. She may or may not find out about this in the short term – I’m posting this to “Friends except Emily Jones” and hoping it’s more of an incredibly encouraging surprise. So shhhhh…
