Help Long Islander, Elyssa, With Critical Care as she Battles Brain Cancer
Last week, Elyssa Katzer, who lives with her family on Long Island, was taken to Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York City to ICU for critical care of pneumonia in both lungs and internal bleeding from an unknown source. Elyssa’s emergency health concerns further compromises her already severely weakened condition, as she battles two, rare brain cancers; and is still dealing with radiation side effects for new cancer growth in an area of the brain where she could lose her vision. Scans she just had while dealing with this emergency, also show increased cancer growth in her brain and lungs.
There is a mountain of out-of-pocket costs associated with Elyssa medical care and this recent emergency to save her life has only made things worse for her and her mom who is staying in ICU and nearby to help her and also manage her medical needs with the team of doctors involved with Elyssa’s entire case. However, the bills for transportation to the city, lodging for long stays and so much more, has put servere strain on this family. Your donation would help in easing some of the burden.
Elyssa, living with Stage 4 Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma (ACC), for 13 years now, and dealing daily with her disease, chronic pain, injuries and other health conditions from surgery, radiation, chemotherapy and infusions, added to her medical woes when brain cancer returned 6 years later and again a year later when the ACC cancer metastasized to each of her lungs. Within three years, a new, aggressive radiation-induced tumor was found and although she had surgery, some tumor was inoperable. Unrelenting as cancer can be, she continues treatments for new tumor growth.
Elyssa’s debilitating struggles have put a huge stress on her and her family’s lives. Please help with your donation, today — your generosity is appreciated more than anyone could ever put into words. You can also support her by sharing this link. And, “Thank You” so much for helping Elyssa deal with the battle of her life.
