For Dom and baby Adaline

It is under the most devastating and tragic of circumstances that we are setting up this GoFundMe page for Dominic and his sweet, 1-week-old baby girl, Adaline.
On Saturday, March 21st, Dom and his loving wife, Janelle, welcomed their beautiful and healthy baby girl into this world. They spent Saturday and the better part of Sunday in the hospital resting, enjoying their first moments as new parents together before being discharged and heading home to celebrate with family and beginning this new chapter in their lives together.
Not even 24hrs later, Janelle was readmitted to the hospital due to a severe case of cellulitis. Within less than 72hrs, she developed an infection that rapidly transformed into necrotizing fasciitis (a rare and aggressive flesh-eating bacteria).
Late Thursday night, Janelle was transferred to UCLA for immediate surgery to remove the infected tissue that was spreading rapidly. She was kept under anesthesia for the next 48 hours while they took her in for multiple surgeries; cleaning and removing more and more infected tissue and ultimately removing her uterus, which had been overtaken by the infection.
On Saturday, March 28th, the doctors suspected that the infection had begun to release toxins into her blood and surgery-wise there was nothing else they could do for her. They set her up with courses of IVIG and antibiotics and prayed for a miracle. Janelle fought hard for her life, but later that evening, she ultimately lost the battle. Her body simply couldn’t withstand the magnitude of what was going on and she passed away from multi-organ failure due to the massive infection.
Due to Covid-19, neither Dom nor Adaline were allowed to stay at the hospital with her. Dom was granted a couple of 30-minute visits to see her towards the end, but she was only conscious for one of those visits.
Janelle was 26 years old. She was loving, loyal, creative, intelligent, dorky, sweet, so funny and genuinely beautiful inside and out. She lit up every room she walked into and had so much more life to live. Janelle and Dom had so many dreams and plans for their future… one of the biggest being to start a family together. They were so eager to begin this new journey and Janelle was so excited to be Adaline’s mom, but in the blink of an eye, everything has changed.
They say it takes a village to raise a child. Dom is going to need that village more than ever now. So we are calling on you to please help support him, however you can, as he begins to navigate this unthinkable tragedy.
