My name is Mel, and I am organizing this fundraiser on behalf of the Shaver family.

Lou Shaver was family to us, but to so many in our community, he was simply known as "Uncle Lou" or "Coach Lou." He was a true pillar of our town—a constant, encouraging presence on the sidelines who dedicated years to coaching, mentoring, and guiding local youth. Coach Lou left a lasting impact on countless kids, instilling confidence, lessons, and memories that will stick with them for a lifetime.

Losing him leaves an incredible hole in our hearts, but the imprint he left on this community will never fade.

Now, it’s our turn to show up for his family the way Lou always showed up for our kids.

Losing someone so meaningful brings not only immense emotional grief, but sudden financial challenges as well. We created this GoFundMe with the full blessing of the Shaver family to offer a central place for friends, former players, and community members to honor Coach Lou's legacy and ease the burden on those he left behind.
