Hello, my name is Claudia Karina Ríos, and I am the aunt of Claudia Ivanna, an 8-month-old baby who is fighting for her life.

Little Claudia Ivanna was diagnosed with liver cancer and is currently being treated at the Siglo XXI Hospital in Mexico City. She is now receiving her second round of chemotherapy and will soon begin her third. With all our faith and our hearts, we hope the chemotherapy will do its job and that she will heal without needing to go through a more complicated process.

The doctors have explained to my brother and his wife that if the chemotherapy does not work as expected, the last option would be a liver transplant—an extremely expensive procedure that can cost between 1 and 1.5 million Mexican pesos, something completely impossible for them to afford.

In addition to the medical battle, my brother and his wife are going through a very difficult financial situation.

My brother had to leave his job to be by his daughter’s side during her treatment, since he did not receive any support or medical insurance coverage for her, despite having worked there for many years. They live in Acapulco and had to move urgently to Mexico City because of this situation.

Currently, he is paying for medical insurance out of pocket, which is very expensive, and the family is surviving only on his wife’s salary.

That income barely covers:

~Daily food

~Vitamins and medications

~Special formula

~Diapers

~Vaccines and tests not covered by public insurance

and the basic costs of living far from home, since they had to temporarily relocate to Mexico City so Claudia could receive treatment.

Even so, they do not give up.

Friends and family have been helping by organizing fundraising sales of various items to raise some money, but the expenses are constant and very high.

That is why today we are starting this campaign with great humility, asking for support.

Any donation, no matter how small, makes a difference and helps Claudia continue her treatment so her parents can focus on what matters most: saving their daughter’s life.

Hola, mi nombre es Claudia Karina Ríos y soy la tía de Claudia Ivanna, una bebé de apenas 8 meses de edad que hoy está luchando por su vida.

La pequeña Claudia Ivanna fue diagnosticada con cáncer de hígado y actualmente se encuentra en el Hospital Siglo XXI, en la Ciudad de México. En este momento está recibiendo su segunda quimioterapia y pronto comenzará la tercera. Con toda nuestra fe y nuestro corazón, esperamos que las quimioterapias hagan su trabajo y que ella pueda sanar sin necesidad de pasar por un proceso más complicado.

Los médicos le han explicado a mi hermano y a su esposa que, si las quimios no funcionan como se espera, la última opción sería un trasplante de hígado, un procedimiento extremadamente costoso que puede llegar a costar entre 1 y 1.5 millones de pesos, algo totalmente imposible para ellos.

Además de la batalla médica, mi hermano y su esposa están viviendo una situación muy difícil en lo económico.

Mi hermano tuvo que dejar su trabajo para poder estar al lado de su hija durante el tratamiento, ya que no recibió apoyo ni seguro médico para ella, a pesar de los muchos años que llevaba trabajando ahí. Ellos viven en Acapulco y tuvieron que trasladarse de emergencia a la Ciudad de México por esta situación.

Actualmente, él paga el seguro médico por su cuenta, lo cual es muy caro, y la familia está sobreviviendo únicamente con el sueldo de su esposa.

Ese ingreso apenas alcanza para:

~Comida diaria

~Vitaminas y medicamentos

~Fórmulas especiales

~Pañales

~Vacunas y estudios que no cubre el seguro social

y los gastos básicos de vivir lejos de casa, ya que tuvieron que mudarse temporalmente a la Ciudad de México para que Claudia pudiera recibir atención.

Aun así, no se rinden.

Amigos y familiares nos han apoyado con ventas solidarias de productos o actividades para recaudar fondos para reunir un poco de dinero, pero los gastos son constantes y muy altos.

Por eso hoy levantamos esta campaña, con mucha humildad, para pedir apoyo.

Cualquier donación, por pequeña que sea, suma y ayuda directamente a que Claudia continúe su tratamiento y a que sus papás puedan enfocarse en lo más importante: salvar la vida de su hija.
