For Our Brother Chris and the Sorensen Family

Donation protected

Hi, friends. Our friend, band-mate, and my brotha-from-anotha-motha, Chris Sorensen, was recently diagnosed with cancer.  While he has undergone surgery and is on the mend, as any of you know that have had or have had friends or family receive a cancer diagnosis, the process is grueling and taxing on the mind, body, soul, and the pocket-book. If you know Chris, you know he is too proud and humble to ever ask for help, but he is always the first one there when help is needed.

I have countless stories about what a Godly, selfless man Chris is. One of my favorites is about a litter of kittens. While on tour somewhere in the world, the band was driving up a busy four-lane road in our rental van and we noticed a mama cat leading half a dozen baby kittens across the traffic-ridden cross-section. Before any of us knew what was fully going on or the vehicle was even stopped for that matter, Chris was up, having nearly decapitated himself from the portion the seatbelt attached to the ceiling, and out of the van side-door rangling those kittens to safety. Chris is like that in all aspects of his life. He could have easily been hit by numerous cars. But, it's purely instinctual with him. It's in his DNA to act first when help is needed and worry about his own safety as an afterthought. The world needs more Chris'.

And, that's why we find ourselves here. We want to be there for Chris as he has been there for us countless times. If you know him well, you already know what I'm talking about. If you've only briefly encountered him on our many travels, you know what a friendly, personable, caring man he is. He makes friends everywhere he goes and more easily perhaps than anyone I've ever seen. He genuinely wants to know how you are and what "lights you up." I've eavesdropped on numerous conversations he has had with strangers, hoping his gifts of interaction might rub off on me a bit ;) ' and it's as though he's known them for years. And I'll say it again, the world needs more Chris'.

So, please help us give him and his family a little cushion in this time of struggle. Even if it's only $1. If he's ever made you smile, laugh, cry, given you a big bear-hug or wowed you with his kick-ass guitar playing, let him know what it meant to you and that you care. And, please tune in on Sept. 29th via Facebook for a live streaming concert with James Otto, Jared Weeks, Jared Blake, Big Vinny, Shannon Lawson, Lewis Brice, and Eric Landes in tribute to our friend. Thank you for reading and thank you for your support. Cheers.
