For Cheng Thao Medical Expenses and Funeral
Cheng Thao suddenly passed away on Sunday June 1, 2025 due to heart failure. He was 36 years old and a beloved son, brother, and uncle. Cheng is one out of six children born to immigrant parents, Xeng Thao and See Lor. Cheng made his parents proud by being the first in his family to graduate from UW-Green Bay with his Bachelor’s degree in 2011 and then in 2017, he received his Master’s degree at UW-Oshkosh.
Cheng will be deeply missed by his siblings. He was full of life, kind and caring, energetic and soft-hearted, funny and the wild one. Cheng enjoyed planning family activities, cook outs, and finding new family games to bring us closer together. He could always make you laugh; there will be a hole in our hearts ‘til we meet again.
Cheng also loved to cook, learning to cook his favorite foods or trying a new recipe. But above all, he loved being an uncle to his niece Kairi and nephew Levi. Cheng was the favorite uncle, a title given to him by his niece and nephew. Being the favorite uncle was his pride and joy; he always made them feel cared about and loved. He always gave them his attention and time, listened to all their stories and kept every school photo, drawing or card he received from his niece and nephew. Cheng’s loving memory will always stay with his niece and nephew.
Cheng was known as a good friend, mentor, counselor, and leader as well. Very few people can say they love their jobs, but Cheng loved what he did and the difference he was making in his students’ lives. He was passionate about his work, influencing both students and colleagues alike. He gave his time and effort to encourage his students to be themselves. Cheng was also proud of his Hmong heritage and shared the culture, its food, language, etc. with his students and colleagues. He encouraged his Hmong students to connect with their roots. Providing information and insight into teaching the younger generation what “Hmong” was and where we had come from. To Cheng every student mattered, he believed in every student’s ability, listened, guided and encouraged them to succeed. He truly cared about his students and the work he was doing, making a difference one student at a time.
Thank you for listening about our brother, Cheng. He was the kindest and most self-less person, a soul taken too soon. Our family is looking for assistance with his hospital bills and funeral costs. Any amount of donations will be greatly appreciated.
