At the beginning of December, Cathy was admitted to the hospital with heart issues. Doctors found a large aneurysm attached to her aorta. The aneurysm was massive even beyond doctors’ belief. Cathy was healthy for her age and they didn’t know how Cathy could have lived without any issues. She made the decision to have the aneurysm repaired and a heart valve replaced. She wanted to continue to live her amazing life with her family and friends and continue to see the world. She was not allowed to leave the hospital as the doctors wanted to keep a close eye on her. Due to COVID restrictions, only Ron was allowed to be with her at the hospital and the rest of her family and friends could support her via FaceTime.
On 12/10/20 she went in for surgery that took approximately 13 hours. Doctors could not believe how enveloped the aneurysm was, attaching to different parts of her heart and wrapping around to the back side of her aorta. The aneurysm was bigger than what was originally diagnosed. After surgery we were told Cathy could survive this but now she had to fight for her life. Cathy was the “sickest” person in the ICU and endured procedures and surgeries on a daily basis. We all know what a strong woman Cathy was and she fought hard to get back to her family. Ultimately on 12/18/20 Cathy’s heart was so physically broken she could not hold on anymore. Cathy passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family.
Cathy never imagined that she wouldn’t make it out of surgery and therefore did not have any financial plans in place. Cathy did everything for her husband and her family and now they are trying to put the pieces back together. Many of you have asked how you can help the family. At this time in lieu of food or flowers, if you wish to make a donation, it will go towards paying Cathy’s medical bills.
The family is also planning to have a memorial service in the spring at Ron and Cathy’s home so all who loved her can attend and celebrate Cathy’s amazing life.
Cathy touched so many lives and she respected and cared for everyone. Many of you also know she helped shape and raise so many children at Children’s Creative Encounters (CCE) with her mother Emaline, father Doug and the family of teachers they employed. The teachers were an integral part of CCE raising the community’s children, including many of their own, along with Cathy’s children; Stephanie, Sammy, and CJ. Cathy and her parents were an integral part of the Ken-Caryl Ranch community.
Cathy continued a career in accounting with Predovich and Company where she fostered professional and personal relationships. In fact, on the day before her surgery, she was hard at work, sending emails and communicating with her clients.
The family would like to thank all who have reached out to give their condolences. Cathy was a beautiful, devoted, and loving person and meant the world to her family. They lost their first and most important connection in life. Cathy showed her family what it meant to be hardworking, compassionate and most of all, fun. Cathy never missed an opportunity in taking the time to enjoy and live life to the fullest!
