Hello everyone,
It breaks our family’s heart to have to announce this, my sister, Cathie has been diagnosed with Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer. She is not a smoker, this is caused by second hand smoke, asbestos, air pollution, and radon to name a few. This awful reality happened over night. We went from a hip ache to immediate life-threatening condition. She had no symptoms, other than her hip bothering her, she thought it was her gait being off due to her broken toe, even after therapy she felt it getting worse. She ended up having an MRI, it showed a mass, which fractured her hip. They did surgery, took out the tumor for a biopsy, by then our world had changed completely, overnight. She went through so much and now three months later we have had some time to take it all in, it’s been very difficult to say the least. They found small lesions in several other parts of her body, she is receiving radiation, little at a time and has been taking a new up and coming cancer tablet, which treats her whole body daily. After three months hospitalized, she is finally home, requiring 24/7 care due to her hip, other issues that need to be looked after. The placement of the lesions has complicated regular life, at the present time Cathie cannot be left alone, work, or drive. Due to the physical nature of her work as a Respiratory Therapist, she may not be able to return to her career of saving lives. Time will tell though, we remain faithful. All of this has left her in a precarious position financially, although she is a proud, independent woman, she would appreciate help to cover her medical expenses. Cathie and our entire family thank you for taking the time to read this, donate, share or even keeping her in your prayers. God Bless!
