Bill has been a wonderful father, husband, and friend of his community. His selflessness has benefitted anyone who has had the opportunity to know him. Bill and his wife, Val, have faced many obstacles over the last several decades.
In 2000 Val was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, causing her difficulty performing her normal daily tasks. This inevitably ended her successful career in 2006, making Bill the household's primary income, which he did with pride.
In 2018 Bill was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Surgery to remove the tumor was terrifying for his family. He had it removed and went back to work quickly because of financial obligations. The removal was a success. However, soon after, he had an infection and had to have a second brain surgery to clean the infection, replacing the removed section of skull with mesh. This resulted in 2 months off work with no pay. Once able to function again, he returned to work.
To cover the cost of the growing medical expenses he began to work extra shifts at his job. He worked his normal Mon-Fri, and then picked up weekend shifts to cover the costs.
In November 2021 Bill was taken to the emergency room for stomach pains. The scan found a tumor in his colon. The tumor was removed, and he was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer. By May 2022 the doctors cleared Bill of cancer, and he was joyfully able to attend his son’s wedding.
In July 2022 Bill began having severe stomach pains. Another mass had aggressively grown on Bill’s colon. He was then diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer. With the aggressiveness of Bill’s cancer, it was decided that he would not endure another surgery, nor would he receive chemo treatment. He continued working until late August when he started to experience increased levels of exhaustion inhibiting his ability to work.
It is hard for us, Bill’s family, to imagine a life without him in it. We all look to him for guidance. He is always eager to help us, and everyone he knows. He takes care of Val as her daily needs grow increasingly more difficult with her MS.
We are graciously asking for help to alleviate some of the financial burden of medical expenses, as well as to provide some support and security to Valerie. It is difficult enough to imagine a future without your partner, and if we can provide her the comfort of knowing she is not in this alone we will. Any donation will be put towards medical bills and living expenses.
Thank you very much!
