For Baby Maverick Graves

I wanted to share the story of my best friend and her tiny family. They love to help people and ask for help for others who are needing a little help. But when it comes to themselves and their own, its very uncomfortable to ask..They just aren’t those who ask- but give. I want to tell her story for them and if anyone feels compelled to help, I would be grateful. I would be just as grateful if that help is simply in prayers. Even though it has been a struggle some days, I am holding on to my faith that God will help them all through this unwanted journey. Thank you for reading.

Shelby and Dalton have wanted to be parents so badly. They tried for a couple of years before seeking help from their doctor. Finally after another year, Shelby became pregnant!! A dream come true. On Sat, Dec 5th, at 23 weeks along, Shelby went to the ER for pains and bleeding. Sunday, Dec 6 she had to have an emergency csection to even have a fighting chance to save her baby. Maverick James was born at 12:18 pm and whisked off to the NICU. He weighed 1 lb 5.5 oz and was doing pretty well!! Oh and how handsome and perfect he was!! Eyes and nose like his mama and just a flicker of ornery, you could feel just seeing his picture like his daddy ❤️

Many spread the word of his arrival and requested many prayers as we believe that there is power in prayer. We heard so many success stories of lil ones who have made it thru this journey. Our hearts were full of hope as we all fell more in love with lil Mav... especially his amazing mommy and daddy ❤️

Then on Wed, Dec 9 nurses discovered that his lil line had leaked and needed to have it replaced. They tried 8 times but his little veins werent having it. They would have to do surgery to replace the line. They moved his brain scan up to determine what was going on before deciding if surgery should be done. We all held on and prayed!!

Unfortunately the results weren’t as his family had prayed for...Maverick had a level 4 brain bleed and there was a lot of damage done to his brain. There would be severe effects put on his life. They had to decide what was next for lil Maverick. Shelby and Dalton wanted Maverick to have a life of running, climbing trees, playing, and making decisions on his own. They decided not to put him thru surgery and spend every second they could holding and loving him. It was the hardest decision they have ever had to make. So selfless and devastating at the same time....

Thurs, Dec 10th they spent the whole day touching and holding and crying and loving him. He only knew love in this life, an amazing gift his family gave him.. His mommy loved his little hands and long little feet...

Sadly at the end of the day, they had to go home.... alone. Without their beautiful and perfect baby boy...The bravery and love they have shown speaks volumes to the kind of parents they became is such a short time. Maverick was one blessed baby. And oh so loved. Now the journey of healing begins.

And all of this has happened just two weeks before they are set to move into a home with a little more room for their growing family.  :(  We are also praying that this can still happen....

“We thank every single person who Has prayed and continues to pray for my family. We are blessed,” says Mavericks grandma Lisa Baker ❤️

I am hoping the burden of all of the hospital costs could be lightened, just a little. Hoping that they can try and move forward little bit every day... any little bit helps.

Thank you again for reading this. ❤
