For Arlene, a mother, a friend and beautiful soul

Update Jan. 10, 2022: I didn't make it... I was almost there..  Mom passed away at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital surrounded my the Chaplin, doctors and nurses. I couldn't be more devastated knowing no one from our family was there as she drew her last breath. It's now up to me to finalise details and coordinate a beautiful celebration of an incredible woman. Please, with all that I have help me to reach this goal. I am at a loss for words... many know, I am strong but this is the most intense experience I've ever been faced with. I love you and thank you in advance for taking the time to read this and contribute.
Thank you.

Update Jan. 6, 2022: Firstly, wow.. what generosity from my family and friends! We're just over 25% of our goal. Incredibly grateful.  I love you.
Mom is being made comfortable at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.  We had a glimmer of hope as Cedar-Sinai in Los Angeles said there was a chance of receiving a lung transplant. Unfortunately,  because of the delicate nature of mom's lungs, she is too fragile and receiving the highest amount of oxygen, she can not be moved to Cedar-Sinai.

Our family is experiencing the feeling and process of saying goodbye.

I implore you to reach out to her if you want to pass on any final words.

I am continuing to seek funds to cover the costs we will encounter when her time comes to join her loved ones who've gone before.
Thank you.

If you know Arlene, you know she lights up a room with her laughter and energy! I love remembering the beautiful moments I've shared with my mom throughout my life. I know there are a lot of great times mom shared with many others.

What you may not know is over the past few months, Arlene has been diagnosed with a fatal disease that has caused a rapid decline in her health, Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. It's a diagnosis that comes with an expiry date and unfortunately that date is rapidly approaching. Doctors have given her, at most, six months. And even more disturbing, both lungs collapsed this last week, she under went surgery in which the doctors added emphysema to her diagnosis. She is at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital and is days away to being in Hospice Care.

As a family, we are pulling together to fly Cleo and I out to California, afford an extended hotel stay, a rental car, a car seat for Cleo as well as giving our mother a proper memorial and sort out the details of the inevitable.

I humbly ask for your help in my efforts. May it be contributing to this Go Fund Me account or reaching out to me personally via my Facebook Messenger
...any help you can offer would be a blessing.

There will be a Memorial Announcement when the time arrives to celebrate Arlene's Life.

Thank you isn't enough for everyone's generosity and kindness.
