Anne Is Retiring! HELP Celebrate Her Legacy!
Donation protected
Hello. We are “Anne’s Angels," a group formed by Anne's one time classroom aide, Jan Clark with the help of Lisa Shuler, Anne's colleague and friend as well as a parent of one of Anne's former students. We are 10 friends of Anne who are joined together by a text thread and our love for her. All of us live or have lived in the Huntington WV area where Anne lives. We are focused on providing Anne and her family support while she battles cancer. We now plan to give her a retirement send-off from the community that reflects her extraordinary life of service. To do this, we need your help!
Anne was diagnosed with cancer in the fall of 2021. After undergoing 5 months of rigorous treatment, new scans revealed her original tumors are gone but showed new cancerous lesions. Her cancer has metastasized. She now is receiving immunotherapy infusions to prevent new cancerous cells from forming as well as attack what has already formed. Despite pain, overwhelming fatigue, and extensive weight loss, Anne remains optimistic about her future. When it became clear to Anne that she must focus on her own health, she reluctantly announced her retirement as of July 1, 2022.
After a remarkable career spanning six decades, Anne, leaves a legacy of kindness, compassion, patience, caring and above all excellence in teaching children with special needs. Throughout her long career, Anne loved, nurtured and supported each child assigned to her classroom and their parents. Extraordinary life-long bonds were formed because Anne genuinely cares about the children and their families and has a unique ability to listen with her whole heart. What a wonderful legacy!
Anne’s Angels have identified two retirement gifts from the community that will cement Anne's legacy of love for future generations to admire and let her know how thankful we are for her many, many years of devoted service.
Your donation will help fund a wall-size mural of Anne at work with her students that will be housed at the Developmental Therapy Center. DTC has a long history of providing therapy to persons with disabilities, making it the perfect location for the painting. The mural will serve as a permanent artifact of Anne’s legacy of love and devotion to children with disabilities, inspiring others to reach for excellence.

Your donation will also provide a cash gift to Anne for her to use any way she chooses. She may use it for medical bills, easing the financial burden of her cancer. Or she may want to purchase new clothing due to her weight loss. She may even use it to champion a favorite cause such as animal cruelty. No matter how she uses it, it is our hope it brings her joy and comfort upon retirement just as she has brought joy to so many.
To keep the fund secret from Anne until the mural is complete and fundraising is finished, a private bank account has been opened in the name of the site administrator. The sole purpose of the account is to collect funds raised and distribute them to fulfill the purposes of this fundraiser. Expenses associated with the mural will be paid first. All remaining funds will be given to Anne Farley in the form of a certified check. At that point the balance of the account will be $0 and the account will be closed.
Please share the link to this page with others you know who would like to honor Anne as she retires. We urge anyone who would like to show their gratitude for Anne’s legacy of love to give generously to this campaign. Any size donation will serve equally to affirm to Anne your appreciation for her remarkable career and legacy. Thank you for your compassion and generosity and for becoming one of Anne’s Angels.
