The Situation

On June 10th, 2025, Ángel Raygoza (a 9-year-old) will undergo a complex open-heart surgery (Left AV Valve Repair) at Cook Children’s Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas. Ángel was born with Down syndrome, and this life-saving procedure will involve intubation and cardiopulmonary bypass. According to the medical team, recovery can take weeks or even months, and Ángel will need to remain under strict post-op precautions for at least 4 weeks.

The Impact

Because of the nature of the surgery and recovery process, Ángel’s family is facing enormous emotional and financial pressure. Hospital stays, follow-ups, medications, transportation, and daily care are not fully covered. This has placed an unexpected burden on a family already navigating many challenges with strength and love.

El próximo 10 de junio de 2025, Ángel Raygoza, un niño de 9 años, se someterá a una compleja cirugía a corazón abierto (reparación de la válvula auriculoventricular izquierda) en el Cook Children’s Hospital en Fort Worth, Texas. Ángel nació con síndrome de Down, y esta intervención de alto riesgo requerirá intubación y circulación extracorpórea. Según el equipo médico, el proceso de recuperación puede tomar desde semanas hasta varios meses, y Ángel deberá mantenerse bajo cuidados postoperatorios estrictos durante al menos 4 semanas.

El Impacto
