For Alistair Campbell and his family

Donation protected
Friends: I am fundraising for Alistair Campbell and his family. As you may be aware, Alistair was diagnosed with brain cancer this spring, and it turned out to be the bad kind, a glioblastoma. He decided to fight this thing with everything he could, "gloves off." He received radiation treatment at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY, at the Wilmot Cancer Center. Alistair also started chemotherapy, but his labs showed liver problems. Much effort was put into finding the cause of the damage to his liver. Unfortunately, his liver is now failing. His care team has indicated that because his cancer makes him ineligible for a transplant, Alistair's prognosis has worsened, and sadly, we believe he will only be with us for "weeks."

You may know Alistair as Professor Campbell, from his many years of service as an Associate Professor of Computer Science at Hamilton College. If you had classes with him, you may know him as the Master of Recursion. You may be friends with him through his work with the AP Computer Science exam group. You may have worshipped with him. You may have brewed beer with him. You may have ridden bicycles alongside him. You may have been in Boy Scouts with him. You may have sung with him. You may know Colleen from her work as a music teacher in the Utica public schools. You may know his son Aubrey, now a freshman at Hamilton College. You may know his daughter Evelyn, a freshman at Proctor High. You may know his folks, Bill and Lynnette Campbell, from North Carolina. You may know Colleen's family from Olean, NY. Or, like me, you may have met a guy at Colgate University (Class of 1991) who liked computers, played trombone, and was just fun to hang out with. Alistair is a decent and loving person who cares about his family, his students, and his communities. He's a good man. As the kids say, if you know, you know.

Alistair and Colleen were reluctant to have a fundraiser, as they were focused on Alistair's treatment and path to recovery. However, with the reality that time is short, I hope you will join me in contributing to support them during this difficult time. In trying to do everything I can to help relieve Colleen of any administrative burden, I offered to organize this fundraiser. Thank you for your donations, love, prayers, comfort, and support.

Best, Brad
